W01: Introduction to Entrepreneurship
This week in my Business 110 class, a few of the assigned readings stood out to me, one is a talk given by Elder David A. Bednar entitled, "Your Whole Souls as an Offering Unto Him," and a video that features James "Jim" Ritchie, entitled, "Launching Leaders." As a student at Brigham Young University-Idaho, I have the wonderful privilege of studying at a University that coincides with my faith.
In the talk given by Elder Bednar I learned how important it is to be a diligent student, both doctrinal and spiritual. It is about realizing that the "college experience is a period of development in one's life to be prized and prospered." (Bednar, 1999). As students we are to be faithful, have competence, learn when it is best to sacrifice and find success through out our life and educational journeys.
I really enjoyed Jim Ritchie's video, he provided 10 principles for success. Jim Ritchie said that these different principles can be great resources of insight and perspective no matter where you are in your life. What better way to learn from authors who have been where we are today. You can view the video here: Launching Leaders.
As this journey begins I have learned, through my readings this week, that it is important to remember that life is hard, my struggles can turn into great meaning, how important it is to preserve and develop habits, and to find the right travelers along this path. I am looking forward to this class to learn more about myself and discover a business that I would love to do/create.
