W14: Entrepreneurial Journal Final Blog

If you had one final lecture to share with a group of students on what you have learned from this course, what would you share? If I were to give one final lecture about this course I would share that as an entrepreneur it is important to know who you are. It’s important to know what your values are because in business sometimes you can get caught up in things that can have a bad consequence if you get involved with things that can later destroy your life. One of my favorite things from this course that was mentioned was keeping a strong relationship with God and utilizing and strengthening your talents. We have all been provided with gifts on this earth, some we are really good at and some we are not. But when we focus on the things, we are good at or work on the things we are not so good at, we can turn those gifts into strengths for our future careers. W13: A Journey of Gratitude

This week we read about reflecting on our journey and finding ways all opportunities in our lives have been a blessing. One of the readings we were assigned to read is by President Thomas S. Monson, "An Attitude of Gratitude," he describes how we have great and wonderful opportunities on the earth. We live in a time where goodness is hard to come by, but it is there; there are "teachers who teach, ministers who minister, marriages that make it, parents who sacrifice, and friends who help." These are small things that can help us recognize blessings in our lives. He continues, "We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues." It's important to have an "attitude of gratitude," as it helps us recognize the good in our lives.

One of the readings for this week's assignment was an article entitled, What's a Business For? by Charles Handy, this article goes into depth about what business is truly for. In an economy virtue and integrity are vital because it helps strengthen a business and help build a customer rapport. As you read pages 3-4 you see how scandals and fraud cause so much pain, disrespect, and the loss of trust from those who invest in you and your business.      Virtue is a behavior in which one strives to live or uphold high morals and always strives to do what is right. Integrity falls under those same rules as well, it's a quality of striving to be honest in everyday dealings and strongly striving to avoid doing what is wrong.     When creating a business, you are going to want to create a business that customers will want to come back to. That means the creator will have to live morally and honestly to gain trust and interest from others. In What's a Business For? I learne
