W7: Moving Forward with a Driving Passion

In this week’s reading, we were assigned to read, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey. The habit that I found was most meaningful to me was habit 5, which is, Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood. This one had the most meaning because in any form of life we must be willing to understand others and listen to them, and then be able to respond to them in a way that will be clear and empathetic. It’s also not just about talking to people, it’s also about being able to share clear ideas that can reach people on emotional and visual levels.

The 7 habits given by Stephen Covey can help me fill my life with passion and purpose both privately and publicly by helping me become a better person. Covey says, “The discovery that there is a gap between stimulus and response that we alone can fill in empowers us to take full charge of our own lives. No longer can we accept that we are a victim of circumstances, or that we have achieved anything simply because it is in our genes.” These habits will help me to achieve my best potential, it will give me the guidance to be empowered and find fulfillment in my life. These habits were created to give someone the ability to change from the inside out, having character-driven acts. We are to change through our thoughts and strive to form better and essential patterns of our character. The habits can help me form a unity with myself, friends and family, and business relationships as I work and maybe one day have my own business.
