W13: A Journey of Gratitude

This week we read about reflecting on our journey and finding ways all opportunities in our lives have been a blessing. One of the readings we were assigned to read is by President Thomas S. Monson, "An Attitude of Gratitude," he describes how we have great and wonderful opportunities on the earth. We live in a time where goodness is hard to come by, but it is there; there are "teachers who teach, ministers who minister, marriages that make it, parents who sacrifice, and friends who help." These are small things that can help us recognize blessings in our lives. He continues, "We can lift ourselves, and others as well, when we refuse to remain in the realm of negative thought and cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues." It's important to have an "attitude of gratitude," as it helps us recognize the good in our lives. As a future business owner, it's important to have gratitude as it will help us to recognize the lessons and skills, we were able to gain through our career path.

This is the reading I really felt fit the topic for the week, the other readings consisted of finding the right entrepreneur path and finding ways to recognize opportunities. And I feel that no job or career path is really the “wrong” career. I feel the opportunities that arise in our lives may not always lead us where we hoped to be but they can teach us where we want to be and help us figure out what we would like to do. In the case study, we read about Randy Haykin who graduated from Harvard Business School shared how each of his opportunities in life, that lead him to where he is, each had an experience that taught him something. He dedicated himself to lifelong learning, eventually he was led to a place that he wanted to be business wise.
