W4: How Will You Measure Your Life?
This week in Intro to Entrepreneurship, we focused a lot on our core values. Core values typically make up a person's beliefs, principles, and/or ideals that can help guide and motivate a person in their life. One of our readings for this week focused on how we will measure our lives. A few things it suggested are to create a strategy for your life. It suggests forming a clear focus and purpose in your life. It is important to understand where you want to go and how you would like to achieve your goals. It also suggests finding and discover resources that can help towards the things that matter most. These resources can provide guidance and counsel when times seem hard or we are in need of encouragement. The last thing I found helpful in this specific reading is to have humility. In humility, we have a full understanding of who we are and having a steady feel-good about who we are. These are just a few steps that are essential in becoming the person we want to be.
Another reading that we read is entitled, Little Things Are Important, this talk gives a more spiritual perspective. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin, who was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, says, "I believe that the little things are very important in our relationship with ourselves, in our relationship with others, and in our relationship with God." He says many of these little things happen within the minutes of our lives. When handling these little things it is important how we will manage ourselves with the time we have. The little things in our lives become bigger things that can help us focus on better understandings as we learn.
Becoming an entrepreneur is not just about business. An entrepreneur is someone who understands themselves but gives themselves the leeway to grow and learn. Perfection is not instant it's a lifetime process. Success will have failures and it's important what you do with those failures. Taking the time to focus on our core values will help us know ourselves and help us conquer the things we would like to accomplish.
